Inductor
Additive manufacturing offers an alternative to conventional production of the component from several segments that have to be bent or milled and soldered together. The cooling unit has improved cooling through internal conformal cooling channels and flexible production. Efficiency and power input are also optimized. The material properties correspond to those of conventional pure copper ETP without the need for heat treatment directly from the machine (101% IACS conductivity, 394 W/(m*K) heat conductivity, 99.9% density of an associated test cube). The inductor was developed by the SMS ELOTHERM group for the hardening of drive shafts and has a one-piece construction that is free of solder joints up to the further connections to the water cooler.
